About Royal Plantation at Fowl Cay

In the very midst of a sea so electric that you'll swear it is made of incandescent-blue liquid light, sits Royal Plantation at Fowl Cay, a resort unlike any other on the planet. A private 50-acre island in the Bahamian chain of the Exumas, Fowl Cay lies only 200 miles from Miami and features six gorgeous, fully stocked villas, innumerable secluded coves and white-sand beaches, a personal boat and guide to introduce you to the wonders of the ocean and a hilltop restaurant serving some of the most spectacular cuisine for hundreds of miles around.

Whether you lay claim to one of the six splendidly outfitted houses as your sun-swept home-away-from-home or you take over the entire island for yourself, you'll definitely feel as if every inch of this indescribably beautiful, undiscovered landscape belongs completely and inexorably to you.

Stroll along deserted paths that wind charmingly through the isle's luscious vegetation and fragrantly blossoming tropical flowers. Swing like a carefree castaway in a hammock strung between two towering coconut trees planted in the silky sand of a pristine beach. Marvel at waters that display every conceivable shade of blue - from aquamarine, turquoise and indigo to a shockingly clear diamantine translucence - inviting you to wade in, dive deeply and immerse yourself completely in its deliciously warm embrace.

Everywhere you turn, around each corner and atop each rise, a new revelation awaits, taking your breath away and leaving you awash in a sense of unfathomable tranquility.

The environment at Fowl Cay is very casual just as it is throughout all the out-islands. A blend of renting a "bare house" and staying at a "full service resort" is provided. This gives you tremendous flexibility and independence while offering guidance, support and enough services to allow for quick enjoyment of the whole area. That's pretty much the mood here on Fowl Cay - help yourself.

General Information:
Getting to the Island:  Step 1: Fly to Nassau, Bahamas or Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Step 2: Take a short, 40-minute charter from Nassau or 2 hour charter from Ft. Lauderdale to Staniel Cay Airstrip. (1.25 miles from Fowl Cay)

Step 3: The Fowl Cay boat will pick you up at Staniel Cay for the short boat ride back to the island.

Fowl Cay is also accessible by private boat or private plane via a 3030 ft paved airstrip at Staniel Cay. Please contact us for more information on these alternate ways of reaching us.

Entry Requirments: US Citizens - a valid US passport is required for each traveler (even babies and children). All visitors should bring proof of return ticket. No visa is required for stays up to one month. For all non US citizens please check with your consultate.

Communications: Since this is a remote out-island, communication abilities are somewhat limited compared to what many are used to.

Cell Phones - It is likely that your cell phone will not work here. Even if you have a TDMA or dual-band phone, there are no guarantees (although you can try calling your provider to set service up - ask about roaming and other fees - Be sure to tell them you are staying in the out-islands, not Nassau or Freeport). There are pre-paid cell phones that you are free to use during your stay and buy pre-paid minutes in $20 or $50 denominations - rates are about $1/min to the US and Canada. Please let us know if you would like the phone number prior to your arrival.

Email/Internet - There is an Internet-connected computer for guests' use to check emails and surf the Internet. There is also an Ethernet hub to connect your computer with an Ethernet port (looks like an oversized phone jack). There is no Internet service in the houses and there is no wireless Internet. Internet access is through a satellite connection, so upload speeds are slow. For this reason, voice communications (VOIP applications) do not work.

Check-in and Check-out: In order to turn the houses over between guest visits, guests are not able to check into their houses until 3:00PM on the day of their arrival. Check-out time is 10:00AM at the latest.

Gear and Houses - What There is and What You Should Bring: The houses and clubhouse are stocked with plenty of supplies to make your stay an enjoyable one and packing easy.

Houses - Each house has AC, linens, soap for showers, a full kitchen, a cooler, beach bags, beach chairs, beach umbrella, satellite television, DVD player (+ movies), stereo with CD player (+ CDs), a hairdryer, toys, and games.

Gear: Snorkels, masks, and fins; waterskiis, tube (for pulling behind the boat), life-jackets; spinning rods and tackle; tennis rackets and balls; beach toys; pool floats (adult and kids) are all supplied.

What to Bring: Perscription medication (there is NO PHARMACY here), sunblock, shampoo and other toiletries, fishing rod if you're attached to it.

Food & Beverages: Breakfast and Snacks - When you arrive, your house will be stocked with the items you selected on your food request sheet. There are also a few local restaurants at which you may choose to eat at your own expense. Typically there is more of just about everything on the food list and your house can be restocked throughout the week.

Lunch and Dinner - Lunch and dinner are served every night in one of the two restaurants. Guests may dine on island or request a take-away picnic to be prepared at a neighboring island.

Beverages - Unlimited Premium Drinks.

Special Requests - Due to the pricing structure and the complex logistics involved with our location, we cannot accommodate special requests for food or beverages.

Money & Currency - Please note that there are NO BANKS OR ATMs in our area, so you will need to bring whatever spending money you will need with you.
