St. Lucia is an island paradise that is rich with history.  St Lucia was first inhabited by the peaceful Arawak Indians, but they were conquered by their old enemies, the fierce Caribs. Columbus navigator was the first European to discover St Lucia in 1499. Then the British came, and in 1667 the French arrived. St Lucia was alternately British and French for the next 150 years, before it was finally ceded to the British in 1814. St. Lucia has been a stable independent democracy since 1979.

St. Lucia is also rich in natural beauty and there is so much to see and do. This tropical island beckons the visitor to explore. Here we find true ecotourism, and luxury vacations beautifully intertwined. There are actually four separate rain forest walks that the hearty adventurer can undertake. There is also all-terrain vehicle riding, bicycling, hiking and camping. In the south o the island near the town of Soufriere lye the famous Pitons, the twin peaks which have become emblematic of St. Lucia that rise from the Caribbean like an apparition.  

St. Lucia also has more than it's share of 21st century luxury. There is a large selection of beautiful private villa rentals. Many of the villas are located on hillsides with fabulous panoramic sea views. Private swimming pools in the villas are often situated to take full advantage of the vistas. There are also many brand new condominium and townhouses that have been built in recent years that cater to the modern vacationer.  The villas often come with a staff, including a cook. You may never want to go out to a restaurant for a meal, but when you do there is a wonderful selection of restaurants, cafes, and local eateries.
